About BWIS

BWIS is a grassroots nonprofit organization based in Chicago, Illinois with a global mission. Our organization was established to address the social, economic, and political needs of minority Women of color in their communities. As an organization we serve to be a resource, space and movement that fully commits to the wellness, progression, and interests of this globally underserved community of Women. Although as an organization called to action to serve underserved communities, we know that all women, all children, and all families need help. We readily avail resources to those in need regardless of race, gender, political views or religion.

We understand the changes needed in the world are many and scale far and wide. Government and social organizations endeavor to effect change, providing aid through services, resources, advocacy, and empowerment opportunities; BWIS purposefully joins them in this space, under the umbrella of change for Women of color!

Communities of Women of color have struggled with divestment on gender, social and economic levels. Despite barriers, we have seen these Women pressing forward making gains in academic, political business, and social sectors. BWIS recognizes the value and asset our community of Women imparts on a national and global scale. We understand with ongoing resources and support critical change and progress can be instrumentally amassed.

It takes a village, BWIS is committed to building villages of Women and allies willing to be a resource for equality, investment and change! It is our mission to be a resource through empowerment, business growth and development, physical and mental health campaigns/initiatives, social services, and youth advocacy.
